Hero of the Month - September
We’re pleased to introduce Lexi, a four-year-old Labrador who has been a valued patient at Cooks Hill Vet since she was just 10 weeks old.
In August, Lexi faced a serious situation when she swallowed a ball during playtime at the park. X-rays confirmed that the ball was lodged in her stomach (see the second image). Given the size of the ball, we opted for an exploratory laparotomy, a type of surgery, as the ball was too large for endoscopic removal.
Under the skilled hands of Dr. Emma Fouracre and our amazing nursing team, Lexi underwent successful surgery the following day. The ball was safely removed, and Lexi has since been on the mend, with several follow-up appointments showing her steady recovery.
We’re so proud of Lexi and her caring owners. Lexi’s only regret is that she’ll need to forgo ball games to avoid similar issues in the future.
Congratulations to Lexi for her recovery!
